[gui-talk] Some Thoughts on Downloading Movies

I think that this program was discussed on "60 Minutes" last Sunday
evening when they did a segment on Netflicks. They said that
downloading movies will be the next big thing, but they said that at
this time, this capability is limited, because downloaded movies can
only be viewed on a PC, and most folks want to watch movies on their big
screen TV sets. However, in the future there will be easier ways to
interface the PC with a TV set, and there will be set top boxes that can
download and play movies.

Hi. So far, the movies that I've downloaded haven't included audio
description. It's different than having a DVD, in that you have to
download and install a special player in order to see the movie. Think
it has to do with the copyright protection and all that stuff. These
movies are software, not hardware. The thing I like about them is that
you don't have to navigate all the menus as with DVD's. As to whether
audio-described tracks could be included, maybe someone with more
technical savvy than I could figure that out.
