[gui-talk] Online Security

Hi. First off, I wouldn't overly worry about someone getting a hold of your
information. Yes, you should be concerned. However, if you think about all
the places that someone could get your information from, such as: Google,
any story that's been done on you from a newspaper, directory, neighborhood
newspaper or other publication; or even through any of the many
address/phone look up tools out there, it would be impossible to keep your
personal data from those places. Besides, just because your credit card
might have your information, and assuming that someone can break into the
card company's system, does that mean you'll cancel any credit cards?

Basically, a little common sense and tech savvy goes a long way. If you're
not comfortable with having your phone or address on your resume, then take
them off. As for your questions about Hotmail, I don't know the answers to
those, except to switch to using Hotmail through Outlook Express or Outlook
if you can. This way, you can deal with the mail lots easier and setup
filters to better distribute messages. Or, get an address with a real
provider and use OE or Outlook.

Even though there are people on the Net that probably would like to have
your phone or credit card number, they're not lurking around every corner.
At least not yet.

Sincerely,
Wayne
