[Faith-talk] Demon posession, and casting out demons

Penny,
You are correct. As long as a believer has the Holy Spirit, which is most likely the case, the believer cannot be taken over (possessed) by a demon. To draw an analogy, it would be like you living in your house and owning it, and me coming along and claiming that the house is mine. It doesn't work.
As long as the holy spirit lives in a person, a demon cannot possess that person. They can be antagonized by demons, they can be assaulted and opressed by demons, but not, I repeat not possessed.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever. Psalms 23:6
