Hello, listers.
Alan, I also went to Bible college. It was called Lincoln Christian
College, and it was in Lincoln, Illinois. I was there for five years. I
chose the school because it had a good mix of Bible classes, and regular
psychology learning, and I was a counseling major.
Accommodations were usually pretty good. Two things helped me. I was a
client of the Iowa Department for the Blind, who is extremely generous with
what it provides to students in the way of financial assistance and
technology, help with ordering books, etc. I ordered my own textbooks and
other equipment, but to me, that's as it should be, not turned over to an
office for students with disabilities.
While LCC had no official office of that kind, they did have what was called
the Learning Resource Center. This was made to work with anyone who needed
some kind of assistance with school, whether it be students with
disabilities, or simply those who needed extra academic help, etc. They
were always good about handling whatever I needed done and being very
helpful, while leaving their hands off of things I wanted to do myself.
The school also acquired a Braille embosser in their library, as well as put
JAWS on a library computer. They might not have done this, except that they
managed to receive a grant to help any disabled students they had, so they
asked me what would be most useful to me. Since the Greek language was part
of my studies, that Braille embosser was great.
Anyway, if you have any other questions, feel free to write me off list.

Hope some of that helped.
