HI Lisa, and all,
Ai Squared has Zoomtext, but they have a lesser, and
much less costly, magnifier that might be an option,
called The Big Shot. Plus some other products that
might work for your daughter. Check out
www.aisquared.com/
One option that is now available, fairly useful, and
free, that comes with Win XP, is it's own magnifier.
It magnifies up to 9x, and works in a pinch when you
have nothing else.
I think it's a great blessing for those who "fall
through the cracks" and can't get their access-tech
funded one way or another. Seniors, especially, but
anyone who can't afford out-of-pocket costs for the
often outrageously expensive assistive technology. .
In XP, go into the Start Menu, into Programs, into
Accessories, into Accessibility, and it's listed simply
as "Magnifier."
It comes on, and covers the top one-third of the
screen. Scrunching down all desktop (or other) stuff
on-screen, to the bottom two-thirds.
You can put your mouse cursor on the bottom edge of the
magnifier-screen, and drag it down to cover more of the
screen-area. Though that does scrunch up the bottom
two-thirds even more.
Anyway it's a useful option that's fairly easy to get
used to, and it's a great blessing at the price, which
is of course "free."
To Your Success!

I'm curious now, from those of you who are VI/Blind or
have a loved one that is, what programs are most used
and enjoyed for enlarging text and for screen reading.
Please let me know your thoughts. If I'm going to
purchase a program for my daughter, I want to be sure
I'm not missing something else that might be better.
She has been using Zoom Text and has not tried anything
else.
