[Faith-talk] referring, correctly, to prayer

Hi everyone,

Please don't think I'm wanting to be "pickie" about words--although getting
words right is important as Galatians 3:16 makes so clear!

Everett, I think yours was a very helpful (if stingingly salty) post.

However, may I encourage us all, never to say 'the Lord didn't HEAR my
prayer'.

Unless we are prepared to admit that we were cherishing sinful attitudes at
the time of offering the prayer, (see Psalm 66:18) what we should say is [as
Everett goes on to do in his post] that the Sovereign Lord Chose not to
grant our request for His Sovereign Purpose.

I think many people have been fooled by satan to think that God is somehow
restricted in what He can and cannot do based on whether He Hears their
prayer or else that His Goodness is somehow in question when their request
isn't acted upon. and so they by-pass the whole issue of His Right not to
grant their particular request--good and all as it may seem to them.

Lelia, I sincerely trust that you and Todd can have another look at things
to see if there's a way of re-ordering priorities.

My sister insists on having at least one overseas holiday (you'all call it a
vacation) every year or two; without this, she considers herself cheated. My
wife and I could never afford such a holiday and aren't prepared to go into
debt to afford it.

Hope these thoughts help.
