[Faith-talk] Healing of Eyes

I had one man tell me that God didn't want me to be blind. I told
him that I wouldn't be blind if God didn't want me to be, and that
God had given me a ministry in music maybe because of it. Now,
people who believe that blind people need to be healed consider
blindness a sickness, which it isn't, and forget about healing being
dependent on God's will and the work of the Holly Spirit in
Christians who may or may not have the gift of healing. If
Christians believed the Bible in its entirety, instead of
concentrating on certain passages, a lot of this nonsense wouldn't be
taking place. I'd steer clear of churches where healing of blindness
is brought up!
Beth, I'm a Baptist, and I want you to know that most are not that
way. That boy may be young in the Lord, and doesn't know better. If
it happens with him again, or with anyone else there, you might use
the opportunity to point out to him why this belief is in
error. Jesus healed the blind, but that in no way means He did so to
all the blind in the world then, or will do so now. These things
must be read and taken in context.
I tell those who want to pray for my healing that they're wasting
their prayers. They need to pray that God's will be done instead of
telling God what to do, or asking for something God doesn't want for
me. Truthfully, I'm never asked if I want my sight. I don't, and I
have one prosthetic eye.
Another thought is that God may not want healing for us, but a closer
relationship with Him. I didn't mean to say so much, but I've dealt
with the issue now and then in my 30 years of knowing the Lord.
Blessings,
Linda
