Stefan, thanks so much for explaing it so well.  I hadn't had a 
chance to concentrate on answering Beth's question since she posted it.

Steve, thanks for watching this list.  What sometimes happens here is 
that someone has a question about faith or the Bible.  We do our best 
to answer, without bashing religions.  You know me well enough 
probably to know that I can sometimes be quite opinionated; but I try 
to keep that out where religions are concerned, and refer people to 
the Bible, where they can read and study for themselves and come to 
their own conclusions.  Stefan has done that, and way before I had 
time to respond.  If anyone disagrees with anything said here, all 
they need do is search the Scriptures.
