[Electronics-talk] Appliance timer

Hi all.
I'm new to this list, though I'm on a few other NFB lists.
I'm looking for an accessible appliance timer.  I want to be able to, for 
instance, set the coffee pot or slow cooker to come on before I get up, so 
the food is ready when I wake up.
I see one at AFB, which may or may not be still available, but it costs 
$139, and I see timers on Amazon for about $25 or so.  The Amazon timers 
don't talk, but they have pins to set them.  Has anyone tried a timer like 
that?  Was it workable, for a blind person?
