Rick;

It is possible with the Daisy Pipeline to convert Word 2003 XML or
XHTML to DTBook XML files which can then be used in the Pipeline to
produce a full text/full audio book using text to speech. You would
likely have to edit the resulting file do get a clean DTBook file. The
Pipeline is very fussy about everything being perfect.

The other option is to use a computer to record text to speech of the
various part of the book and then use DTBmkaer (w3.wmcnet.org/
dtbmaker/) to place those recording into a simple book. DTBmaker is a
Macintosh program. Also on a mac you could use the built in command
line program textutil to convert MS Word documents to HTML and then
use the Pipeline.

There is supposed to be some work on a Word to DTBook converter being
done but I don't know a whole lot about it.
