You said:
"Lastly, like all media these days, Compact Flash will die within a few
years, SD and Micro SD is already becoming the de facto standard for many of
the newer devices out there. I assume that the NLS systems will be flexible
enough to deal with changing media types. I am pretty certain that you can
get adaptors that are the size of a CF card and can accept an SD card."

I think you misunderstand. Sd cards, MMC cards, XD cards, USB Flash drives,
and Compact flash cards, among others, all use the same type of storage,
I.E. flash memory. The only major difference is in how the cards connecter
is configured, and its shape. Flash memory is clearly not going anywhere
any time soon, and I also don't think that compact flash cards are dieing
out either. Many new products still use them.

Anyway, the NLS will not be using compact flash for their books, rather, as
I understand it, they will be using a device somewhat like a usb flash
drive, but with a different shape and some additional write protections and
so forth. That device will, however, like a compact flash card, incorporate
flash memory.

Hope that clarifies things.

Aaron
