Hello Reinheart and listers,

Bring it up at the national convention. Perhaps this is a matter for the
National Federation of the Blind in Communities of Faith to be involved with
to urge the creation of more Christian material in DAISY Format. Much of
this material is in the public domain including several Bible versions, the
works of Josephus, Phylo, St. Augustine, John Bunyan, to name a few.

I really would like to see more Christian material in DAZY since this
format allows one to browse audio in a electronic format easier and more
quickly.

Hello everyone,

This is a subject that is near and dear to my heart, and one I believe
we need to address in the coming year. While there are many issues
concerning digital talking books protected by copyright there's lots of
public-domain literature, including versions of the Bible such as the KJV
which could be put in to DAISY Format. The NFB has done much to promote the
use of DTB Players, but little is being done to teach our members and other
interested persons how to produce material in DAISY to increase the
availability of books in this new and exciting format. The IBTC has held two
workshops on using DTB Players, but none on DTB Creation while others have
done this during conferences and on-line. I realize it's too late to offer
it this year, but my hope is that such a seminar could be offered by the
IBTC in Atlanta next year and at future national conventions. Perhaps an
on-line course could be developed by the NFB Jernigan Institute to teach
folks how to create DTBS using programs developed for this purpose. This
could also mean jobs for blind folks with libraries and book producers in
the future. I hope they will take it under advisement and consider such
offerings for the future. And let's not forget about the NFB's own
literature. As far as I know there is none of it available in DTB Format via
our Web Site, or from the national office. This too is something we can
change in the year ahead, and I hope we do. This matter should be brought up
in appropriate forums during the national convention to put the wheels in
motion. See you all in Dallas.

Hello Joseph and other interested parties:

Well this question was asked about a year and a half ago on this same list,
January of 2005.

I did a search on the phrase DAISY formatted Bible and came up with this
link:

http://www.nfbnet.org/pipermail/dtb-talk/2005-January/001353.html

This is my posting in response to the same question. The only difference is,
we are all a year and a half older.

I did come across a web site in PDF format.

http://www.torchtrust.org/corporate/documents/Publishershandoutweb.pdf

Info on the topic of DAISY formatted Bible is on pages four of the document.
In brief it says they are working on putting the for Gospels in DAISY format
with a release date of Easter Of what year I haven't a clue. The web site is
in the UK.

I did email then however at library at torchtuch.org you may want to write them
also.

I am using a King James Bible on CD ROM that works rather nicely. If you
care to email me off list about the CD you are more than welcome to.
