Sorry, no help here -- but I'll take this opportunity to pile on the Dolphin
folks. I've been trying for months to get Dolphin to answer an email or
phone call -- because I'm interested in buying their software. After several
tries I gave up.

Subject: [Dtb-talk] Daisy and Dolphin "help"!

Greetings,

We are currently in the process of implementing the Dolphin Software suite
(EaseReader, Producer, Publisher) for our adaptive technology needs. Since
the installation, Dolphin has been a mixed blessing. Like many educational
organizations, we have a multiple user environment with several other
adaptive technology software titles installed on each workstation (to meet
as many individual users' needs as possible). These pre-existing software
titles have lived in harmony for some time, and since the installation of
Dolphin, there have been issues:

1. Functionality of Dolphin Producer on any machine is only available to the
user that it was installed on. The workaround my administrators use is this:
A) Install Producer on Account1, B) Uninstall Producer, C) Install Producer
on Account2, D) Uninstall Producer..... This has to be done for every user
account on the machine. My communication with Dolphin Tech Support has
confirmed that Producer does indeed register DolphinProducer.dll into the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER key rather than the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

2. Dolphin EaseReader crashes upon trying the "Set Voice" function in
Playback > Preferences. After speaking with Dolphin Tech Support (and
uploading the Dr. Watson debug log file) their suggestion was to initially
uninstall the IBM ViaVoice speech synthesizer and test again. EaseReader
still crashes. Next, I was instructed to uninstall Openbook 7.0, MathType 5,
and Wintriangle and test again. I tried this and still the program crashes.

So far my experience with Dolphin has not been 100% positive, and our
software environment is nothing out of ordinary of what you would expect in
the realm of AT/IT. We are running Dell Pentium 4 desktops with ample RAM
and multiple users logging on and logging off during the course of our work
day.

I am sharing this information with you all in the hopes (or fear) that you
may have already encountered and found possible solutions for these
problems. If you have suggestions as to where we might find other
suggestions (other lists?) to fix the problems, please let me know.

Thanks for your time. I look forward to hearing the work-arounds or
solutions you have found.
