I would guess that the range of variability of this control differs
somewhat from machine to machine, so the amount of increase would be
unknown and not precisely a multiple of anything.  This would make
restoration to normal speed a hit and miss or trial and error
proposition.

I tried doing a track with the variable speed setting of the C1
play  
set all the way up. This seems to be 5X normal speed as near as I
can  
tell, does anyone know for sure what the speed would be? Sound
quality  
is degraded considerably but still usable. I may try the stereo
idea.
