Subject: [Colorado-Talk] Urgent: Our Rideshare Discrimination Bill In Danger

Dear NFB of Colorado members –

HB26-1043 is in danger of dying in the House Appropriations Committee with only weeks left in the legislative session. It has a cost of $50,000 attached to it. It’s complicated why this tiny amount is a problem, but it has to do with Colorado’s budget shortfalls and future TABOR caps.

None of that matters, though. If you have been denied a ride because of your guide dog or been with someone or just care about your blind brothers and sisters who have been denied, then you need to act – and now!

We need to get dozens of emails to the Appropriations Committee members today or tomorrow. They will meet tomorrow, but HB26-1043 isn’t on the schedule, and time is running out! I put the emails of the Appropriations Committee at the end of this message. Copy and paste them of the committee members into the “To” field of an email. For the subject, use “End Rideshare Discrimination, Pass HB26-1043.”

And then say something like this:

Dear Appropriations Committee member

I am an NFB member and I urge you to pass HB26-1043 immediately. We can’t continue to tolerate the discrimination of rideshare drivers leaving blind people standing at the curb for just $50,000.

If you have been denied tell them so.

Now, if this email thing seems like too much, simply call the Appropriations committee chair, Kyle Brown at 303-866-2920 and leave him a voice mail with the info above.

It’s time for action!
