I pass this along to you in case any of you are interested in participating.  They are looking for “patients with communication disabilities” for which I think blindness applies.  This is the case if part of the stream of communications they are studying are written/visual in some way.  Of course, our deaf blind members have additional “communication disabilities.”  In any event, below is the info.

I (Shannon) am part of a team at the University of Colorado Denver who is conducting a research study called Improving Communication and Healthcare Outcomes for Patients with Communication Disabilities (INTERACT). The purpose of the study is to learn more about how to adapt the length, format, and content of existing interventions for improving patient-provider communication strategies among patients with communication disabilities to best fit the primary healthcare setting. Please Join Us If you:

Are >18 years old, AND

Are a clinician or staff member at a primary care clinic, OR

Are a patient with a communication disability, OR

Are a caregiver for a patient with a communication disability

 

Attend a 60-minute online focus group.

Review existing communication tools and discuss your ideas about how to adapt them.

Receive a $50 gift card for your participation.
