Subject: [Colorado-Talk] Parents of blind students

Hi All!

My family is fairly new to Denver. I have a 10 year old son, who is visually impaired & who will be going into 6th grade at the start of the 2021-2022 school year. My son is above grade level in Reading & Math. He also loves science & technology. School choice is a new concept to us, so I’m looking for other parents who have or who have had middle school age children enrolled in Denver Public Schools. Which of Denver Public School(s) has the best honors & STEM programs? Which school(s) have you found to be a good environment for learning for your child(ren)? Which school(s) is or was the principal, teacher & other school staff accepting & willing to work with the parents & therapist(s) of the child(ren), to help the child(ren) be successful & productive in their learning? Which school(s), if any, should be avoided? What is/was your experience & reason for having this opinion about the school(s)?

If this isn’t the correct place to pose these questions, I apologize. If there is a better group, in which to ask my questions, if someone would be kind enough to point me to the correct place, I would greatly appreciate it.

Donna
