Happy Easter all!

Because it's the Easter weekend, the Denver Chapter voted last month
to hold its April meeting on the 4th Saturday. That is, we won't be
meeting tomorrow, but next Saturday, April 27. Usual time, usual
place 10 - noon at the Colorado Center for the Blind. We'll be
serving breakfast sandwiches, hash browns and juice before the meeting
for $5, so bring your appetites and debit cards!

And here's the really cool thing: We'll have Bonnie Barlow as our
guest. Bonnie is known to many of us for her work at the Denver
Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) providing audio description to
blind members of the audience. She makes numerous DCPA performances
accessible to us every year. She's been doing it for a while, so many
of us know her work and her voice. But she's also described the rodeo
at the Western Stock Show, provided consulting to other performing
arts organizations, such as in Salt Lake City, and worked on audio
description for television. So come hear what Bonnie has to say about
her work, but also bring your questions and suggestions. Bonnie, whom
we know best from listening on our headphones in the theater, wants
this interaction to go both ways. She's looking forward to hearing
from her audience! Below is more about Bonnie and her work:

As an Audio Description Specialist, Bonnie was trained in 1992 and
has, for the last 27 years, been describing a myriad forms of
entertainment for the blind and visually impaired: Broadway touring
plays, local Denver plays, ballet, modern dance, rodeos, opera,
acrobatic performances, improv, museum exhibits, and for conferences
such as No Barriers USA. She has trained other successful audio
describers. Bonnie also writes description scripts for television,
films and streaming content, including Netflix, ABC and Amazon Prime.
Some of the shows she has worked on include Grace and Frankie, Modern
Family, and Blackish. She is currently serving on a committee of
experts in audio description, establishing national guidelines to
establish certification in audio description.

Have a great Easter weekend all!
