Thank you for your very kind and thoughtful comments. I know that mother would appreciate them. She loved our Colorado and Arkansas affiliates. She was truly a wonderful mother. She did request that in Lou of flowers any donations should be made to the national Federation of the blind and sent to my office in Colorado Springs. While many of you will be at this Thursday afternoons legislative hearing I will be at mothers service. I will be thinking of all of you that is what mother wants me to do. I will be there at the next interim committee meeting next week. Thanks to all for your work to build equality of opportunity through the national Federation of the blind. Mother was so committed to our cause

but they knew how important the work of the Federation was  to their son and
even though they lived several hundred miles from Kevan, they were the ones
who played the leading role in establishing the Ft. Smith Chapter of the NFB
in Arkansas.



As many of you know, Darlene's health had been failing for  a while.
Nevertheless, Darlene's passing has hit the family very hard because one can
never truly be ready for such an event.  Again, please think of Kevan and
Bridget, and let's honor Darlene's and Jim's memory by building our
Federation even stronger!
