We will say good-bye to Market Street Station on 11 May 2014. All RTD routes currently using Market Street Station are moving to Denver Union Station (DUS) on 11 May 2014. (I will send preliminary gate assignments in another E-mail this evening when I arrive in Wyoming.) RTD is planning some interesting events to open DUS, which I believe we blind would enjoy attending. I would like to see as many blind people as possible coming downtown to our Union Station to celebrate its opening. Hearing the sounds of cane tips on the terracotta floor of DUS would be absolutely fantastic!!!

DUS is not for Denver alone; DUS belongs to Colorado. It would be fantastic to see as many Federationists as possible downtown on 9 May 2014 during the celebrations. I will join the celebrations myself after I get off work at 3:30 p.m.

Please call or text me at 303-863-1150 if you are there!!! You may also contact Monique Melton at CCB. I suggest taking the C Line or W Line to Denver Union Station. I would like to take photos of blind people enjoying Union Station. I want to publish photos of blind people enjoying the new facilities for The Blind Colordian. The opening day events are as follows:

Friday, May 9 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. will be the Grand Opening Ceremony and Celebration of the Union Station Underground Bus Concourse
The speeches will be from noon to 1 p.m. at Wewatta Pavilion at 17th and Wewatta Streets

From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. there will be food trucks, vendors and a beer garden on Wewatta Street between 17th and 18th and on the 17th Street Promenade

All attendees can come free and will be able to go see the bus concourse

There will be RTD ambassadors at Market Street Station the week prior to the closing on May 11

On Friday, May 9 during the celebration and starting on Sunday, May 11 there will be customer care representatives and ambassdors at Market Street Station, in the Union Station Bus Concourse and on the commuter rail and light rail platforms so please ask for an “ambassador” for assistance
