Message from Diane McGeorge regarding a NFBCO 2009 Seminar

We hope all of you who read this message are planning to attend our annual
state convention. We have had many postings about the convention, but I
have the opportunity to announce one more activity you will not want to
miss.

On Saturday afternoon, November 7, we will be sponsoring the first-ever
seminar for those of you who are blind and experience hearing loss. Your
concerns are those of the NFB and we want to address them with your help and
input.

Our keynote speaker is Cory Portnuff, a very well known and experienced
audiologist who will discuss many options available for improving hearing
loss. I have met Cory, have worked with him, and know that his
understanding of the combination of blindness and hearing loss will bring
new and helpful information. We will also learn about financial assistance
for the purchase of hearing aids and discuss strategies and methods for
independent travel.

I know those of you who plan to attend will bring your own wealth of
experience and knowledge to the entire group.

Please let us know if you will need any accommodations such as interpreters,
FM systems, teletouch machines or any other adaptations that might be
helpful to you not only for this seminar but also throughout the convention.

Join with us and make our first seminar on blindness and hearing loss a real
success.
