Subject: [Colorado-talk] An Article of Note

            Greetings all!

In our Colorado Springs Chapter there has been discussion
in recent months about a teenager who has the "amazing" ability to get
about by audio clues alone. An outstanding article was published in the
Braille Monitor responding to this, which I will have read at our
chapter meeting. Surprisingly it is also available on Newsline, thanks
to some humble person who shall not be named, and at www.nfb.org under
the title "What It Means to Walk With a White Cane".

I enjoyed the article so well I felt it important to
inform individuals on the list. I feel it addresses something we as
blind people will be asked about frequently, assists in keeping us
informed, and informs the public about what true sustainable
independence is. I hope you find it helpful.

              Sincerely,

              George McDermith, President
Colorado Springs Chapter of the NFB
              NFB Newsline Coordinator
