Greetings:

On a vote of 57 to 8, H.B. 1274, our Commission Bill, passed the House on Third Reading this morning.  We are now onto the Senate.  The bill  will be assigned to Senate Health and Human Services and Senate Appropriations.  Below  you will find the contact  information  for the members on those committees.  Please drop them an e-mail and/or call and say something like the following:

The House just passed H.B. 1274, a bill that will creat the Colorado Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired.  This is a great step forward for the blind and visually impaired of our state.  Please pass the bill in the Senate.  

If appropriate, throw  in a little bit about how it is important to you as a blind person or as someone who knows a blind person etc.  

Soon there will be a hearing in the Senate with public testimony much like that which we had in the House Health and Human Services Committee.  We will need to get a ton of people their.  The ACB has vowed to kill the bill in the Senate and has even hired a professional lobbying firm to get it done.  We need to pack the room again.  As soon as I know a hearing date, I will pass it along.  Sometimes, these bills come up on short notice.  So, please stay tuned.
