Hello NFB members,

 

As you may be aware there is a transportation budget being considered in
Olympia. This budget focuses on the whole of Washington. The Disability
Mobility Initiative has been very active in making public transportation
needs known to legislative bodies.

 

Anna and a few of us participating in the conversation are planning on
holding a news conference next Thursday or Friday afternoon. If you are
interested reach out to her directly. She's been the leader in this effort.
Concerns include:

1.	Sidewalks or lack there of,
2.	Increased access to transportation (more routes, bus stops etc.).
3.	And safe crossings.

Again we hope to hold a conference next week with news media. She will be
taking the train down from Seattle. She also hopes to video bus rides,
sidewalk problems, unsafe crossings etc. An example is if you live 10
minute's drive from the Van Mall but it takes you 50 minutes to get there
from home, what can be done?
