Good evening, yes I agree that we need to be doing our homework with both candidates. However, we have already met with our current congresswoman multiple times over the last four years to discuss our legislative priorities, to discuss her cosponsoring a bill that would make the ADA ineffective, that this representatives votes has not reflected the values of our organization and therefore since we know where our current representative stands on all of these issues, I think it’s important that we also see where other candidates come out on the issues that are important to us. This is an opportunity for us to learn about how this candidate sees our priorities. And nothing is to say that we would not extend that same invitation to the current congresswoman. However, we have spent much time corresponding with her and are quite aware where she stands. I hope this helps explain things better

When do not endorse any political parties. I think if we have a Democrat, candidate at our meeting we should also have a Republican candidate, speak to us as well

Corey would like all those participating on the fundraising committee to attend a fundraising Meeting starting at 11 AM in the teachers lounge at the school for the blind this Saturday. This will be followed by the official board meeting at 12 PM. We have a special guest starting at 1 o’clock, Carolyn long, who is running against the current representative from our district in Congress will be joining our chapter meeting so that we can get to know her as a candidate and ask questions related to the charter and mission of our organization. As we all know, we cannot endorse candidates but we are able to seek them out and ask questions about their platform related to issues that are important to us. We strongly encourage everyone to attend and ask questions To get to know Caroline as a candidate for the upcoming election. We will conclude with the remainder of our chapter meeting to take place after our 1 o’clock meeting with Carolyn.
