Art/Works - A conversation about careers in the arts for people with
disabilities.
 
The Colorado Council on the Arts, VSA arts of Colorado, Metropolitan
State College of Denver and PHAMALY (the Physically Handicapped
Actors and Musical Artists League, Inc.) are joining forces to offer
the first statewide Colorado forum on careers in the arts for people
with disabilities.
 
This Statewide symposium is designed to bring together artists, arts
organizations, employers and others to explore career opportunities
in the arts: Saturday, March 8, 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Hosted by Metropolitan State College of Denver this event will take
place at Tivoli Hall on the Auraria Campus, 900 Auraria Parkway, Denver.
 
Breakout Sessions Include:
..         Successful Artists Panel - Various local working artists
with disabilities share their strategies of success in marketing,
promotion, and making a life as an artist
 
..         Arts Employment Panel - Hear from a panel of arts employers
who have been successful in employing people with disabilities,
making venues accessible, identifying opportunities in the arts for
people with disabilities (includes representatives from the Arvada
Center, Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Colorado Vocational
Rehabilitation and the Denver Commission for People with Disabilities)
 
..         Tangible Skills Workshop for Artists - Topics include
resumes, promotion, using technology and the internet in developing
yourself as an artist
 
..         Economic Impact Presentation - Learn about the economic
impact of the arts and people with disabilities in Colorado
 
**Programming is subject to change
 
Registration for this event is FREE and includes lunch and all
conference materials.
