2008 SCHOLARSHIP AWARD APPLICATION

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA & APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

The Rocky Mountain Unit of Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic is pleased to announce the sponsorship of six local scholarships for students with print disabilities.

The George 'Bud' Y. King Scholarship Award 
The George 'Bud' Y. King Scholarship Award, named for our late Chairperson of the Board of Directors, will be awarded to six students with print impairments.  These six students, who are blind, visually impaired, learning disabled and/or physically impaired, must meet all of the below criteria:

    1.. Be legally blind, have a diagnosed learning disability and/or have a diagnosed physical disability which interferes with reading; 

  2)      Be registered individually or through a school, with RFB&D, by Jan. 1, 2008 

  3)      Have an overall GPA of a "C+"  or better (2.5 or more on a 4.0 scale); 

  4)      Complete the application & submit with an essay describing your use of RFB&D audiobooks (either audiotape or CD) and how it has assisted you with learning:

            a.. Middle school and high school students:  200 words minimum 
            b.. College and university students:  300 words minimum 

The three middle school and/or high school winners will each receive a cash award of $500.00 and the three college and/or university winners will each receive a cash award of $1,000.  The winners will be honored at the George 'Bud' Y. King Scholarship Luncheon on May 8, 2008 (you must be present to receive your scholarship award).

        

The deadline to apply for this award is March 1, 2008.
