[Cabs] atention

Hi all,
Melissa is absolutely right. This organization does indeed listen to its
members. With that said, I believe that since Eva has expressed a wish to
attend as much of the convention as possible, that we should help her to do
so. Furthermore, If there were extenuating circumstances which did not
allow for one of you to attend the convention, the Cabs treasury, if funds
permitted, would also be used to help you as well. This organization is not
founded on the principles of greed, and we certainly won't get anywhere by
saying that we could spend the money on this or that without the commitment
to back up our wishes. There are a lot of important things that this
organization could focus on, but we need the time and commitment from
everyone involved in the organization in order to affect positive changes in
the areas we wish to target. To be honest, I have seen the amount of
commitment to this organization and its activities ebb in the last couple of
months. I realize that we are all busy, and that we all have lives outside
of CABS; however, in order to become a strong advocate for students in our
state, we need to commit as much time as possible to the work of CABS, and
the NFB, our parent organization.
As far as the service of members on the Board of this organization goes,
when we were all elected, we all assumed these leadership roles knowing that
we would be looked up to to lead this organization. We all knew that we
were expected to do certain things as board members. With that said, it is
necessary that all of the board be at the Leadership Seminar Dinner on
Thursday night of the convention unless there are truly extenuating
circumstances which absolutely do not allow you to attend. This is only one
of the many expectations that we all committed to when we took our elected
positions in CABS. Until we are no longer in office, these same things, and
additional ones as well will be expected of us as the governing body of our
student division. If anyone is unwilling to continue to fulfill their
obligations on this board, then I suggest that you not run again at the
State convention and make room for someone else who is willing to work on
behalf of all students in our state. We have no room in this division for
petty fights and squabbles, nor do we have room for sycophantic behavior, or
for those who wish to have the power, but who are unwilling to do the work
that goes along with it. In order to be a strong organization, we must have
cohesion, and must all work together to ensure that we do the best job that
we can do for blind students. Thank you.
Kind Regards,
Marty Rahn
