CABS Report
This has been a busy couple of months for the Colorado association
of blind students. After some planning we were able to conduct our
first seminar on February 17th at the Colorado center for the blind.
This seminar covered issues such as working with readers, the purpose of
the Disabled student service office, the importance of low tech
equipment, and a group discussion on what is the national association
and the Colorado association of blind students. There were a total of
15 people in attendance. Even after the mishap with the oven that
caused the fire alarm to go off, which led to Littleton's finest coming
to visit the center. The seminar was a success. Other plans for CABS:
Cabs had a seminar in conjunction with the newsline project on the
auraria campus on the 6th of march. Unfortunately, this seminar wasn't
held because of lack of advertisement. During the week of the 23rd,
CABS will be conducting a seminar at the Pueblo Community college.
Meetings: Has a meeting every month on the second Sunday at 6:00 PM. It
is usually done by conference call. The information is as follows:
Numbers and conference room code. Denver: 303-482-2225 Colorado springs:
719-302-3727 Greeley 373-3406 Code: 342213. We hope to have a face to
face meeting before the state board meeting on Saturday may 5th at the
center. CABS e-mail list The CABS list is up and running on the nfbnet

Special thanks
A special thanks to the Colorado center for the blind for allowing
us to use the building for the seminar. We hope that you enjoyed the
leftover food that we donated to the seminar. A special thanks to
Jeremiah for his stirring presentation concerning disabled student
services offices. A special thanks to Tom for hanging around and
handling the firemen when they arrived. A special thanks to Brent for
all of his assistance with the seminar. A special thanks to George for
advertising the seminar on newsline. Finally a special thanks to both
the Cabs board and to those members that participated in the seminar. I
look forward to more successful seminars in the future.
Respectfully submitted Melissa R. Green CABS president
