Hi all:
I have finished composing the message that will be mailed to the house representatives tonight. I am posting it to the list and sending it to CABS board members so that I might receive feedback on things you think need to be improved upon, taken out, etc. Please e-mail me back with feedback as soon as possible at
marty.rahn at juno.com
My goal is to get this sent out by 11:00 PM tonight so that all representatives will hopefully have a chance to read it before they go into session tomorrow morning. The message is below my signature.
Regards,
Marty Rahn
"There are nine requisites for contented living: HEALTH enough to make work a
pleasure; WEALTH enough to support your needs; STRENGTH enough to battle with difficulties and forsake them; GRACE enough to confess your sins and overcome
them; PATIENCE enough to toil until some good is accomplished; CHARITY enough to see some good in your neighbor; LOVE enough to move you to be useful and
helpful to others; FAITH enough to make real the things of God; HOPE enough to remove all anxious fears concerning the future."
----Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
Hello:
We, (the Colorado Asssociation of Blind Students,) thank you for passing H.B. 1274 on Second Reading and urge your support on Third Reading. The Colorado Commission for the Blind will help blind and
visually impaired Coloradans achieve real equality in our state.
Specifically, as an organization dedicated to equality for blind students throughout the state of Colorado, we would like to add that a Commision for the Blind would make acquiring such things as textbooks, and adaptive technology much easier for those who are pursuing post secondary degrees. This in turn, will make it much easier for blind students to compete on terms of equality with their sighted peers; ultimately making it much easier for students to have the skills necessary to help them gain equal employment. Equal employment and the opportunities it affords to blind people are extremely important factors in reducing the 74 percent unemployment rate which currently exists for those of us who are blind in the United States today. We urge you to keep these things in mind as you vote to allow us those opportunities of equality which have to long been kept from us.
Kind Regards,
The Colorado Asociation of Blind Students:
Melissa R. Green, President
Marty Rahn, Vice President
Eva Adams, Secretary
Diane L. Filipe, Treasurer
Becky Sabo, Board member
Maurice A. Mines, Board Member
Nijat Worley, Board member
Dianna Alley, member
Ellisha Wells, Member
