Hi, Stacie,

Do most blind parents know about the low-tech solution of having the syringe notched by someone at the correct dose level?

You bring up the plunger, filling the syringe a bit past the notch made in the shaft, then slowly lowering the plunger back down to the notch, making the dosage exact with no air bubbles..

Hello everybody:
Please see below a forwarded email concerning how blind parents can measure
liquid medications for their children. Chiadika presented her possible
medical device at our 2024 NFB of PA state convention. Please connect with
her if you need more information.
Thanks,
Stacie

Hello Stacy,
This is Chiadika from See-Rynge. So sorry for missing today's meeting but I
would love it if you could share this short blurb with your constituents.
"Accurate liquid measurement can be a significant challenge for the blind
and low-vision community, particularly for blind parents who need to dose
their infants with liquid medication. In response to this issue, two
bioengineering alumni from the University of Pennsylvania are developing a
liquid measurement device designed specifically for individuals with low
vision. The device features automated liquid extraction, audio feedback,
tactile buttons, and an accessible mobile app, all aimed at reintroducing
independence in the liquid measurement process. Although originally
designed with medication dosing in mind, this device has significant
potential for use in various careers, home activities, and for other
disability groups.
