[blparent] Using Tivo or DVR

My husband and I are thinking we need to look at some kind of Tivo or DVR setup so when we watch sporting events or even regular TV, we can skip or fast forward thru the commercials because they are often pretty bad, especially during games, etc. Our son is 4 and likes to watch sports with us - but the commercials aren't so good!

Do any of you have a Tivo or DVR setup that works OK without seeing, etc. etc.?
