Randolph,
I have my consumer advocate in Washington DC checking with all her local contacts to find some blind veterans in the DC area. Carolyn Bellamy should be getting touch with you as soon as she has some folks nailed down. I asked her to keep me in the loop on her progress.

Our Institute, the Kansas Braille Transcription Institute, has been asked
to assist with locating three blind/low vision vets from the Iraq and
Afghanistan war. There will be a formal ceremony on Memorial Day at the
Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. The plan is to have three blind
children present an American Braille Flag to the three vets.
So far we have had assistance with locating 1 vet. We could use any help
that you can offer. Being this far from the Washington D.C. area makes it
additonally difficult. We felt locating some vets in that area would
eliminate the travel time and expense associated with being at the
ceremony.
I can be reached at 316.265.9692, or 316.262.7913, or by email at
info at kbti.org.
Thanks for any and all help.
