Hello everyone. I work with the NFB's Diabetes Action Network, and we have
been developing a program to reward developers of accessible products, which
we are calling the Access Plus Award, or A+ for short. We recently gave our
first A+ Award to the makers of the Prodigy Voice, a talking blood glucose
meter for blind diabetics.
The NFB is currently evaluating an RFID text-to-speech prescription reading
system, called Script Talk, for our A+ Award. The backbone of the A+
process is consumer product testing. Specifically, we recruit a group of
NFB volunteers to use the product regularly for a given time period (say,
three weeks) and fill out an extensive evaluation form. Volunteers don't
get paid, but they do get to keep the product, and their recommendations
will be used to make any necessary changes to the product before it receives
the award.
We are currently seeking volunteers to participate in the consumer testing
of Script Talk. Volunteers will be provided with a prescription reader and
will have their prescription bottles coded to be read by the reader. If you
would be interested in volunteering for the test panel and take more than
one prescription medication on a daily basis, please email me at
<mailto:gailbk.voice at gmail.com> gailbk.voice at gmail.com. As usual, time is
of the essence, so I would be grateful if you could respond quickly.
Thanks so much, and I look forward to hearing from you!
