Dear Corey,
If you can get the financial aid you need and the support of the Division of Blind Services in your state, I believe getting your masters degree would be a really good thing. There is a shortage of qualified rehabilitation counseling professionals so when you obtain your degree you will make more money and you will be realizing your dream as well. I am a licensed mental health counselor at a college here in Florida and I love what I do. For me, there is nothing like assisting a student to resolve serious problems and to feel better about who and what they are. Of course, you are talking with someone who simply could not stand to work in a call center as I wouldn't like to deal with so many angry people who resent being contacted at home about this or that when all they want is to go home and not to be bothered after a lond day on the job.
I think you should plan to remain in the state where you are employed. Otherwise you will be confronted with out of state tuition which is nightmarish.
Take care,
Kathy Davis

Hello list.
I am seeking the advice of those more wise than I.
My job will be closing the call center I am currently working at, and they
are giving us the chance to relocate to one of there other centers.
This would require a move of at least 1000 miles.
Right now I am waying relocating or going back to college to get a masters
in Rehab Counseling.
The cost of living in any of the other cities they have centers, is higher
than it is here.
Right now I am torn between keeping a job, and following a desire for a
career I really want.
I am not asking you to make my choice from me, but I believe there is wisdom
in many councilors.
So I am seeking your advice.
Corey Cook
