[Blindtlk] A sort of tech question

It's a parallel port. It shows up as LPT1. The Add Printers seems to find
the Blazer, but it just doesn't do anything when she tries to emboss from
WinTrans. I mean, the Blazer shows up in her printers list. How do I
subscribe to GUI Talk?

Cindy,

First, do we know for certain whether the embosser is connected to the USB
adapter with a serial or a parallel
connector? This is very important as you may know, because serial ports go
by names like COM1, COM2 and so forth
while parallel ports are LPT1 and LPT2 and up. Somewhere along the way,
some kind of installation process is
necessary so that the computer thinks there is another parallel or serial
port. As part of this process, the "port" on the
cable is given a name which must be used when communicating with the
embosser. In some cases, I have known of
adapters to start right off with something like COM3 for the serial port and
LPT2 for the parallel port assuming that lower
numbers are in use.

Your best bet would be to raise this question on GUI-Talk where someone may
have tried the same thing. I have not
done this yet and am only going by experiences about which I have read.
