[Blindtlk] A sort of tech question

I'm not subscribed to the computer science list...although maybe I should. 
But, I have a question to try to help a friend.

She bought a Braille Blazer.  She got an adapter to connect it to her USB 
port on her laptop.  I was trying to help her get it working, but we haven't 
been successful.  I'd like to know how to let the computer know where to 
find the Blazer, so it will work.  Also, does something need to be changed 
in WinTrans, or on the Blazer, itself, to indicate where to find it.  Right 
now, it's set on LPT1, but I don't know what the USB port where it's 
connected is called.

Any help would be appreciated.
