Good afternoon everyone,

As one who likes to collect recordings of past NFB Conventions and other
federation activities I thought I would put out some feelers in an effort to
locate recordings of the old Job Opportunities for the Blind, (JOB)
Seminars. Prior to 1998 the NFB's Job Opportunities for the Blind was
operated as a joint project of the National Federation of the Blind and the
U.S. Department of Labor. From 1980 to 1998 an annual JOB Seminar took place
immediately following, or prior to the start of the NFB Convention.
Recordings of these seminars were regularly produced and distributed free to
JOB Applicants.

I know for a fact that I have at least two of these the 1980 and the
1989 JOB Seminars. The 1989 JOB Seminar was hosted jointly by JOB and the
National Organization of Parents of Blind Children and was themed, (Butcher,
Baker, Candlestick Maker.)I may have others lying around here, but need to,
"Clean out our spare room clausitt in hopes of finding them.If anyone has
recordings of these seminars they want to get rid of, or who is willing to
make me a copy I'd love to hear from you in an attempt to rebuild my
collection of these great seminars. Although career strategies have changed
somewhat, and much of the technology we now have didn't exist back then I
believe these recordings still contain valuable job hunting tips along with
numerous profiles of successful blind individuals. I think that many of
today's blind youth would be surprised that even without the kind of
technology we now have blind people were employed in STEM Fields and in
other positions then assumed to be undoable by a blind person. To my
knowledge as far back as 1986 blind people were working as court reporters,
airline reservations representatives and even farther back in the 1960s and
the 1970s the blind were employed as telephone operators, engineers, and in
the sciences.

Here's hoping some of you may have some of these recordings and can help
me rebuild my collection. Thanks for your help.
