Ray has a good point. This list does have a public archive. That means that
anyone can find any post made by any member of this list. Your wife or your
friend could very easily find this post.
I don't think your wife is being unreasonable by wanting to have time that
only involves the two of you. As Marion pointed out, having the other person
along could compromise the spontaneity of the evening. I don't mean to say
you
should never help out a friend who needs transportation. But there should be
times when you can go and do things that don't involve your friend. Sure,
your friend would then have to come up with $14 in cab fare. but otherwise,
you
have to pay the cost of always having a third person along.
Did you agree to take him without consulting your wife? This could have been
another reason for her anger.
