[Blindtlk] Help on an essay.

Hi everyone,
I am endeavoring to write an essay for a scholarship.  I wanted to write an
essay discussing the current state of employment opportunities for the blind
and how things can improve.  Below is my initial outline of ideas.  I am
seeking input and possible information sources here.  If you want to help in
great detail, perhaps it is best you write me privately so as to not clog up
list traffic with it?

a.	Why is this?
i.	Attitudes in society towards the blind.
				ii.	Lack of understanding of the true
capabilities of the blind.
b.	How has this changed over the years?
i.	 The formation of the National Federation of the Blind.
				ii.	The rehabilitation Act.
				iii.	The Americans with Disabilities Act.
				iv.	Advances in computer technology.
c.	What impact does this have on our economy?
i.	Estimated annual costs of blindness to the federal government.
				ii.	Cost of a lifetime of support and
unpaid taxes for one blind person.
				iii.	Loss of potential labor in the
marketplace.

	c.	What can be done to change this?
i.	 The work of the national Federation of the blind constantly impacts
the entrance of the blind into the marketplace.
				ii.	Employers must seek information and
education regarding the abilities of the blind.
				iii.	Blind individuals must be prepared
to demonstrate their ability to perform a given job and how they accomplish
it.
