I replied on nfb-talk about this as well at some length, so I will only
summarize them here.

I think forwards from ACB lists are not a bad thing to have. They help
keep everyone informed and serve to break down barriers. Granted, there
are those in both organizations that very much like those barriers where
they are, but I for one am tired of those people trying to fight a fifty
year old civil war in my name as a Federationist. Likewise I suspect the
young of the Council feel much the same.

To that I say no more! I'm tired of cheap shots taken at the American
Council of the Blind by what I know for certain to be a minority of people
who bemoan everything they do because they've done it while in their next
breath they accuse them of bemoaning everything done by the National
Federation of the Blind because we are the ones doing it.

Eric's forwards have demonstrated what I have come to understand to be
true: The viewpoints of the American Council of the Blind should inform
our viewpoints. The reciprocal is true as well. Will these differing
ideas change our minds? Dissenting opinions have in the past helped us to
rethink how our philosophy applies to environmental adaptations and guide
dogs. Never have they changed or diluted our philosophy, only helped us
frame more accurately the context to which we apply it.

That said, this one message, as sent, did not seem to further those goals,
and excessive cross-posting stands only to irritate. I admonished those
things in my capacity as just another list member, since David or Steve
had not yet as moderators. I also offered my opinion. I don't think
anyone could ever question my willingness to do that. *grin*

I think I did a little more than summarize here. Oh well. *smile*
