Hi Dana,
To use the equation editor with a screen reader press the shortcut "alt+=".
Then in the Equation Tools tab you select the LateX encoding and insert the
LateX syntax in the editor and finally, with the contextual menu you select
the "professional" option, in this way the screen reader will properly
verbalize the mathematical expression.
You have to keep in mind that the editor has some exceptions with LateX,
that is, it does not support certain symbols.
Regarding fractions and division. To indicate the first ones, it would be
enough to use the "/" sign or the formal syntax in LateX for fractions
"\frac{numerator}{denominator}" and for the division sign (in LateX)
"|div". The first one will make the reader verbalize the beginning and end
of the fraction with numerator and denominator and the second one (if I'm
not mistaken) should verbalize "divided by".
To add integrals you use "\int", to indicate superscript you use "^" and
for subscript "_"; to indicate summation you use "\sigma" if I'm not
mistaken.
We suggest you consult a LateX writing tutorial so that you can access
LateX coding.
Kind regards,
halena
