I'd like to echo others' congratulations on your summer position. Others have made many great points. I'll just add that if you use headphones with your screen reader, as I almost always do, this may lead others to believe that you are
highly absorbed in something and don't wish to be disturbed, even if you leave your door open or take other actions meant to indicate that people should feel free to drop in on you. I don't really have a good solution for this one and didn't realize it was
that much of an issue until some time after I'd started working at my first firm, when a partner said that he always hesitated to drop in on me because I always looked so busy. I don't have a good solution for this one--I personally need headphones to work
efficiently, particularly if my door is open. Now, though, I mention to people when the opportunity arises that headphones shouldn't be taken as a sign that I'm too busy to chat. (Of course, that earlier experience was more years ago than I like to admit,
and there are more discreet headset options these days.)

I should also add that these days, I work remotely most of the time, and I only make it to the office a few times a year. On those occasions, I sometimes want to poke my head into certain people's offices if they happen to be free. I
ask my executive assistant (this is my firm's designation for positions that used to be known as professional assistants or secretaries) to walk with me to relevant offices and to let me know if the person seems absorbed in something or if it looks like they
might be available. This has been a good strategy at my particular office, thanks in no small part to my fantastic EA.
