I have not seen all of the posts on this subject, but I hope it is clear that the intention of most of us and the NFB is not to encourage the use of gasoline-powered
cars for our benefit. We are looking to find a subtle sound source that could be added to hybrid cars if the cars themselves are too silent. Not everything that is
hybrid is quiet, though. The hybrid busses that I have heard here in Minnesota are quieter than most of the busses that travel our streets, but they make enough
noise to seem not to be a problem. Still, I would find it surprising if the hybrid cars I have seen would not be seen as a problem by the blind of Europe as well.
