The best, (and affordable) scanning software is Omnipage 16 sold by Nuance.

Subject: [blindlaw] Scanning Software

Hi Everybody,
does any one know of some good scanning software that will be helpful
to me as I begin my legal career. I need a program that will scan
books, documents, just about everything you can think of and be useful
with my screen reader. I do have a program that converts PDF's into
word processing documents, so that should not be a problem. I would
appreciate any and all suggestions. Thanks.

Michelle
