Good Morning everyone,
I do not want to be rude, but I do not know how to introduce a new subject
to this list. I have to find out though about what I can do about a
situation.
I applied to be a substitute Teacher for a so called disabled friendly
district in the East Bay in Northern CA. When I presented my paper work to
the person in charged and she stated that everything was filled out
properly, she stated to me that she had to send the paper work on to her
supervisor because of my visual impairment. The situation was corrected by
the head of human resources and I was put on the list.
Two days ago, I substituted for a special ed class with four kids and three
assistants. The full inclusion Teacher came by and let me know, that she
called up special education office downtown and let them know I needed an
Accommodation aide. She also stated that they would send someone. Of course
they never did and I was glad. On the way out, I let the secretary know
what happened and that I did not need an accommodation aide.
Today, I called the sub line and found out that I was put on inactive
status. When I reached the sub coordinator, I was told that a complainte
was received by one of the schools, I substituted in, (I only substituted in
two schools) and that I would get a letter from her Supervisor. I attempted
to call a Supervisor and left a message to call.
I have reason to believe that the complainte came from that last school. Is
there anything I can do about this since this smells to me like
discrimation.
Please let me know. If I can talk to any of you about this situation, I
would definitely pay for a phone call.

Subject: [blindlaw] How to Make a Losing Argument--read your argument
Pursuant to the recent discussion on this list about oral argument
techniques, there is an article in this month's ABA Journal titled How
to Make a Losing Argument. One of the highlighted mistakes is to read
one's argument. You can find the article on-line at
