Thank you for your response and your words of encouragement. This venture
is both exciting and terrifying all at the same time.
I am very proficient using Word and I have above average writing skills.
Additionally, my G.P.A. is just below a 3.9. I use the internet frequently
to do research for papers I write for school. Additionally, I served as my
class representative while I earned my Associates degree. I can still do
not use any visual aid devices currently to read or write as my central
vision is relatively good.
I am open to learning all aspects of law. This would include an opportunity
in a part-time, entry level position. I am not opposed to working
electronically; although, I would love to work in an office environment
under the direction of someone who has experience.

Don't limit your horizons! If you have computer skills, you can work
electronically -- summarizing depositions and doing research on google.
>From time to time I have contracted with law clerks, many of whom I have
only met electronically. Perhaps, some of us on this list can find some
things for you to do if you have good computer skills.

Good Morning,
My name is Lise Cox and I am a new member to the organization.
I have low vision due to R.P.
I am an undergraduate student at Indiana Wesleyan University in
Indianapolis. I will graduate in January and I am preparing to take my LSAT
in September. I will apply for an early admission decision to IUPUI Law in
November for entry in the fall of 2008.
I am very interested in an opportunity to re-enter the workforce in an
effort to prepare me for a law career. I would be attracted to volunteering
for a law office or law related organization while I complete my education.
I believe this situation will provide an employer with an excellent student
worker and me with the experience and confidence I will need as I move
forward in this endeavor.
I would appreciate some direction and any referrals from NFB members in the
Indianapolis area. I have been out of the workforce for ten years; however,
my previous experience is in bank management, administration and credit
analysis including collections.
Sincerely,
Lise Cox

Subject: [blindlaw] O&M
Does anyone know what services a state must provide for a blind person if
they receive federal funding? I know someone in Ga. that had to quit
working because of deteriorating sight and the state is denying him O&M and
like services because of his age (32). They told him they only have funding
for services to the elderly and children. The state department of Labor has
also told me that they do not give services such as job placement and
referrals to someone that they feel can market themselves. If the state is
supposed to give services such as these, and receives federal funding, what
federal agency would someone have to contact if denied services? Thanks for
any info!
Annette
