I am not sure what you are using to convert PDF documents. In my opinion
the most reliable conversion software now available is PDF converter version
4 made by Nuance.

When I run through the line with control plus right arrow, it reads it
like it is one long word. When I only use the right arrow, it reads
each character with no noticeable break between words.

Do you find any characters at all separating the words? In other words,
are there characters other than spaces or does one word run right into
another even when you arrow through them with the left and right arrows?
