Subject: 2008 ATTORNEY GENERAL'S HONORS PROGRAM AND SUMMER LAW INTERN
PROGRAM - APPLICATIONS NOW BEING ACCEPTED
Dear Colleagues:
For the past several years, I have been working to keep you informed
about how the Department of Justice (DOJ) has endeavored to uphold the
rights of people with disabilities. Now, in a broader context, I want
to share information with you about how students and attorneys may join
us by serving in one of our DOJ components.
DOJ is now accepting applications for the Attorney General's Honors
Program
(http://www.usdoj.gov/oarm/arm/hp/hp.htm) and the Summer Law Intern
Program (http://www.usdoj.gov/oarm/arm/sp/sp.htm). Eligible candidates
may apply online through Monday, September 17, 2007 (midnight, Eastern
time).
There
is also an ongoing opportunity to apply for the Volunteer Legal Intern
Recruitment Program
(http://www.usdoj.gov/oarm/arm/int/legalinternjq.htm)
with deadlines being set by each component, which independently
determines its own selection procedures. (For a complete list of
components, see
http://www.usdoj.gov/02organizations/02_1.html.)
Please help spread the word among students and attorneys who may be
interested in joining our DOJ team. I can tell you from direct
experience that this Department is an incredible place to work and
brings with it significant personal fulfillment. In fact, according to
an independent survey, DOJ is among the very best large agencies at
which to work in the Federal Government, ranking at #5 (see
http://bestplacestowork.org/BPTW/rankings/index.php?t=scores_large&c=ind
ex.)
Have a great weekend, and thank you in advance for sharing this
information with others. I really do appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Olegario "Ollie" D. Cantos VII, Esq.
Special Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General Civil Rights Division
U.S. Department of Justice
