[blindlaw] bulk scanners

The issue boils down to the use of words. Scanners will be fed either one
page at a time by hand or through an automatic document feeder which will
permit the scanning of several pages that are placed on the feeder and sent
through the scanner.
Whether the scanner scans single sides of a page or front and back of a page
depends on the capability of the scanner or (whether it allows for duplex
scanning) or upon the settings in the scanner itself. The default setting
is usually single page; however, some scanners will have a setting for front
and back of a page.
A second critical point is the software that is used for the scanning. The
poorer the quality of the software the poorer the quality of the output.
Currently, the best software for scanning is Omnipage.
I hope this makes sense.
Respectfully,

My ignorance is going to show prominently, but can someone describe the
characteristics of a duplex scanner? Currently, I have a Cannon flatbed
LiDe something or other. I scan pages one at a time, rather slow, but this
duplex business leads me to believe the scanner can feed paper through and
scan both sides? Thanks in advance for the clarification.
